What are Transferable Skills? |
Under Vermont Act 77, all schools are required to move to a proficiency-based system by the year 2020. Each school has the power to decide how to implement this change. It is a real opportunity for policy-driven, meaningful change as schools make the shift from traditional to proficiency-based systems.

Transferable skills are traits needed to be successful in all aspects of life beyond high school. At BFA, we've identified five key Transferable Skills: Clear and Effective Communication, Creative and Practical Problem-Solving, Informed and Integrative thinking, Responsible and Involved Citizenship, and Self-Direction. These cross-cutting skills provide opportunities for meaningful application of important academic content, helping to ensure the continued success of our graduating students.
